DCEDC Strategic Planning Update - December 2008

We are on target to complete this plan by year end. Areas of particular interest include:

  • Capitalizing on expanding international business opportunities
  • Expanding local industries
  • Supporting new business creation and entrepreneurship
  • Effective marketing and communications
  • Creating a culture that promotes new ideas and innovation

Additionally strong emphasis has been placed on improving our ability to leverage the assets of NIU and Kishwaukee College for education, research and development and as a marketing tool for DeKalb County.

Economic Outlook Breakfast - Tuesday, January 13, 2009

DCEDC is kicking off its 2009 events program with an Economic Outlook Breakfast on Tuesday, January 13 at 7:30 AM at the Kishwaukee College Conference Center. Asha Bangalore, Vice President and Economist with Northern Trust will be the speaker, giving her outlook on expectations for 2009. As usual this is anticipated to be an extremely well-attended and informational presentation.

DCEDC is a Public/Private Partnership Established in 1987

DCEDC is a public/private partnership working to facilitate sustainable and diversified economic growth within DeKalb County. Established in 1987, DCEDC is a county-wide economic development organization formed to capitalize on the strengths of the county and to be a catalyst for private and public leadership. It provides information and assistance, to industry, business and developers seeking to expand or locate in the county. Efforts are particularly focused and targeted on attracting a more diverse, new or expanded industry to the county. Activities are carried out in a companion, cooperative and coordinating role with local chambers of commerce, economic development commissions, governments, education, utilities and private development interests. Throughout the year the DCEDC sponsors various events such as Business Roundtables, Industrial Focus Luncheons, the Economic Outlook Breakfast, and the Annual Dinner and Program.
