March 29, 2011 Annual Dinner and State of the County Update

The Annual Dinner was held at the DeKalb County Farm Bureau and drew many attendees. The evening began around 4:30 when event-goers arrived to view the many exhibits up for display in the Farm Bureau lobby. Here, they had the opportunity to network with others. Also a part of the evening's events was the pasta buffet, catered by Premier Catering.

Once again the annual Membership Meeting began at 6pm where some of the past and current officers presented on the DeKalb County Economic Development Corporation and its recent activities. Retiring president, Gary Evans, was presented with a plaque and thanked for his two years of service to the organization. Then Paul Borek began his presentation on the recent developments and accomplishments of the county. At the conclusion of his presentation Mr. Borek touched on the Business Retention Visit Program of the DCEDC and some of the findings from this year's visits.

Surprising to many people was the large percentage of industrial and manufacturing building that happened in DeKalb County in comparison to the rest of the Chicagoland Region. Even in down times DeKalb County was able to keep up construction interests when other areas were not.

The event this year had 230 attendees and 48 business supporters. The volunteers, who were too numerous and helpful to count, were greatly appreciated. Everyone who came and participated in this event helped to make it a success once again.

The full presentation with audio, as well as a PDF version are available in the Members Only section.
