TRANSPORTATION IN DEKALB COUNTY: Planning for Transit, Road Construction & Truck Impacts

 

DeKalb County EDC hosted the final Business Roundtable of the year on Tuesday, November 27, 2007. The event, “Transportation in DeKalb County: Planning for Transit, Road Construction & Truck Impacts” was held at the Kishwaukee College Conference Center. Presenters included George Ryan – IDOT, Tim Sjogren – Metro Transportation Group and Tom Zucker – Voluntary Action Center.

George Ryan was first to present and gave an overview of the multi-year resurfacing projects planned for DeKalb County highways and bridges. Next, Tim Sjogren talked about truck traffic pattern and impact studies that have been conducted in and around DeKalb and Sycamore over the past three years. Finally, Tom Zucker gave a history of public transportation in DeKalb County. He talked about transit options, ridership numbers and the recent creation of the Sycamore Blue Line bus route.
